Communications Team: Content Creation

This position requires approximately 5 hours per week, and successful candidates will be able to make at least six months commitment to the role.
 
Please note that all members of the communications team are non-remunerated volunteers, giving up their time alongside their own professional/academic activity.


Position Description:

The International Counter-Terrorism Youth Network (ICTYN) is currently looking to recruit a Content Manager in a voluntary capacity. The successful candidate will lead, plan, and manage strategy for all digital content creation as well as the day to day management of finding stories within ICTYN to share with external audiences.

This is an opportunity to join the growing team of ICTYN and be part of an engaged global community of outstanding students interested in security and counter-terrorism issues.

This position requires approximately up to five hours per week; successful candidates will be able to make at least six months commitment to the role.

Tasks and Responsibilities
  1. Works across ICTYN’s departments to discover stories about the organisation, staff and members that will add to ICTYN’s brand externally, assisting with promoting of research projects, In-Security, and membership when needed;
  2. Works with the communications team to develop a strategy that will promote ICTYN in line with the organisation's mission;
  3. Works with ICTYN’s graphic designers to ensure that all digital content has compelling graphics;
  4. Works with the director of communications and the social media specialist to ensure that content is shared across platforms and assists with draft promotions on major initiatives;
  5. Works with the newsletter editor to alert him/her of stories that would be best sent to all members;
  6. Works with ICTYN’s project managers to provide content they need and assist with any writing they may need help with. 
Desired Skills and Experience
  1. Excellent management skills, and proven ability to lead a volunteer team;
  2. Excellent interpersonal and cross-organisational communications skills;
  3. Excellent written and spoken English skills;
  4. Professional experience in international affairs, journalism, strategic communications, and/or strategic planning is preferred;
  5. Experience with social media and web writing required;
  6. Naturally curious and a keen interest in storytelling;
  7. Passionate about the organisation and the work that our staff/ members do;
  8. Detail oriented and prompt response to emails.
Eligibility and Selection
  1. This position requires approximately 5 hours per week.
  2. Position is unpaid and part-time.
  3. Candidates are not required to be ICTYN members to apply.
