About the Research and Analysis Department


The Research and Analysis Department aim is to enhance the understanding of the local push and pull factors that lead to radicalization and recruitment in a number of contexts internationally and to develop a knowledge-base for what works and what does not work in terms of CVE policies and programs. The strategic objectives of the Department of Research and Analysis are:

  1. Become a premier international research hub for CVE experts and practitioners;
  2. Develop an up-to-date, unique and comprehensive database through a multifunctional CVE Virtual Library, Foreign Terrorist Fighters (FTF) Programs Catalogue and Global CVE Web Portal, which comes from research and analysis activities, mapping exercises and shared good practices by our partners and engagements;
  3. Develop a high-level research and analysis capacity through a combination of in-house research and analysis, a non-resident fellowship program, and strategic partnership opportunities;
  4. Develop a broad network of fellows and researchers from all academic environments and regions, including researchers based in regions where violent extremism is an urgent problem;
  5. Support and contribute to the analysis of local push and pull factors;
  6. Translate research findings into CVE practices and policy recommendations;
  7. Share and disseminate standards for metrics and toolkits for measurement and evaluation of CVE programs and activities.
About the Internship


The Research and Analysis intern will be working with the department to implement programs funded by international donors. S/he will facilitate necessary research and communication in conjunction with external organizations; s/he will get in-depth experience on how an international organization functions and will broaden the understanding of Countering Violent Extremism and Countering Terrorism on a global scale. S/he will conduct literature reviews and desk research on relevant CVE topics, and support the overall objectives of the department in alignment with his/her professional goals and Hedayah’s needs.


  1. Support existing CVE programs within the department to include but not limited to (adding new library items and programs to the Counter-Narrative Library and FTF Programs Catalogue);
  2. Assist in the outreach of partners and relevant CVE stakeholders;
  3. Collect research material on radicalization and violent extremism in relevant countries or in support of ongoing projects and programs;
  4. Provide administrative support, including taking notes of meetings and drafting reports;
  5. Conduct literature reviews and desk research on CVE;
  6. Support in collating notes and feedback forms from programs;
  7. Perform any relevant tasks when required.


  1. Fluent in English. Any other languages, particularly Arabic or Swahili, will be considered an asset;
  2. Excellent research, communication and organizational skills;
  3. Ability to work autonomously and in a team;
  4. Ability to deal with several stakeholders coming from diverse cultural backgrounds in the appropriate manner;
  5. Results-driven and proactive personality;
  6. Interest in working in an international, multicultural environment;
  7. Experience in CVE or international relations preferred but not essential.
